First, it is not difficult to get student loans. It is difficult to get PRIVATE student loans however, since that involves credit and job history.
I would go straight to the person over admissions/registrar/business office and tell them the situation. Try to work something out.
Of course, they have the leverage since techincally, they don’t have to settle for anything less than what is owed. What I would do is continue to save up your money, and then proceed to pay it off. Or at least keep making payments.
Sorry for your situation, but how did you end up owing your school 13,000?
